Vera is a communications specialist, a leadership facilitator and mentoring coach. She has over 13 years experience in communications includes roles in the print media, Corporate communications, PR and international communications across public, private and Global organisations. Vera has strong experience in leadership programme design and delivery. She has worked in a variety of industries giving her unique perspectives on the application of leadership in different environments and contexts.

Vera's professional life mission is to:

1. Promoting leadership and personal accountability
2. Developing young people to think big and make meaningful and measurable contribution to society
3. Seeding inspiration and powering ambition
4. To reach annually up to 5,000 people through face to face professional development events and 10,000  with message, and audio and media products in above areas.

She works for the Department of International department in Malawi as Education Adviser. Prior to this she worked with the British Council Malawi as Deputy Director and also had responsibility for leading communications across 8 African countries. During this time she co-led the design and delivery of  successful initiatives such as the British Council’s ‘Interaction’ leadership programme for sub Saharan Africa, The ‘Changing the face of politics’ leadership exchange programme for African women MPs and Africawoman, the media leadership programme for female journalists. Vera also managed strategic assignments in the UK, Ghana, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Kenya and Ethiopia. Vera has served on the boards of two of Malawi’s most vibrant civil society organisations, The Malawi Economic Justice Network and Women and Law in Southern Africa, Malawi, the latter as vice chair. Vera writes two weekly newspaper columns ‘Leaders Live’ in Malawi’s leading daily- The Nation, featuring frank conversations with Malawi’s top leaders and ‘Gears for Careers’ in the Nation on Sunday. She is a speaker on Leading without title, career ownership, Discovering your strengths and employee leadership.
