About Inka
I love the arts and anything in colour and could say I was born into fashion. I always loved wearing accessories at a young age and got more into them in my teens. Later in my years, I took it on to make some of my own with some help from an aunt. from then on I just went on and made beaded necklaces for my friends as gifts till one day they encouraged me to make some money out of it instead. Inka (Irene Naa Korkoi Armah) is free spirited person and gets her inspiration from the freedom of expression of ones self and the works that come out at a point in time.

My first designs were nothing to write home about but somehow others found it a bit interesting. as time went on I practiced a lot more and got totally lost and absorbed in stringing my beads that I got better with designing them. Every time I have to make an item for someone I do get a bit jittery with wondering whether they would or would not approve. Each item I make is very personalised and according to the client’s specification. I just try really hard to stick to it and not get carried away as its very common with artists to get lost in their own world. The most important thing is bringing out a unique item identifiable to the client.

There are difficulties as in any other profession. It is sometimes difficult to get the materials to work with. Some clients are definitely difficult and I guess that comes with us being human, but the satisfaction from a client is worth going through the mill. Ghanaian professional women are being encouraged much more now than before to embrace their origin of wearing traditional beads and carry it with them everywhere they go. It would be nice to be able to revive our struggling culture of traditional wear with some modern touches making it appealing the world. Ghanaian fashion will only be identified if we put our foot in first and wear what we have to show the rest that we appreciate who we are and are proud of us instead of wearing other country flag clothes and shun ours. Ghanaian fashion should underscore the handing down of tradition from generation to generation as we embrace changes but maintain originality.

Inka Accessories is eclectic and cuts across very authentic African works as well as a fusion with western styles to suit any style and place you may want to wear them to. The emphasis is on Ghanaian beads (Krobo beads, Aggrey beads) and the different accessories that can be made from them. inka identifies the true Ghanaian through beaded accessories.
