Eight Ugandan Women Scientists scoop awards

Eight Ugandan women researchers have been awarded prestigious agricultural awards by the new African Women in Agricultural Research and Development Programme (AWARD). The Ugandan AWARD winners are Dr. Sarah Mubiru and Pamela Paparu from the National Agricultural Research Organisation, Dr. Florence Birungi Kyazze and Sylvia Wanzala from Makerere University.

Others are Margaret Aanyu and Rose Komugisha Basiita from the National Fisheries Resources Research Institute, Rosemarita Birungi Mukwaya, from Agency for Inter-regional Development and Joy Samantha from Bongyereire, Africa 2000 Network.

The seven Ugandans were chosen among the 60 African women scientists who have received the outstanding AWARD Fellowship winners from more than 900 candidates in nine African countries.
